The North Queensland Sports Foundation is proud to announce it was recently awarded $25,000 (exc GST) from The Queensland Government to partner with Mitakoodi Aboriginal Corporation in Cloncurry to deliver sport and recreational activities to First Nations children and young adults in community.

Funding will be used to purchase sporting equipment and employ a part-time Sport & Recreation Officer, who will work with an existing Youth Support to support and deliver a tailored sporting program over the next 6 months in efforts to promote community spirit, trust and respect, as well as provide a safe and supportive environment for neuro-diverse children to learn skills.

To promote community values and foster more engagement, Mitakoodi plan to canvas youth directly so that they can have a direct say on exactly which sporting programs will run. Equipment purchased for the program will remain property of Mitakoodi, to continue to be used sustainably by the Youth Support Officer(s) after the end of the program.

The Queensland Government provided $25,000 to North Queensland Sports Foundation to employ a part time sport and recreation officer and purchase equipment at Cloncurry to enable Queenslanders to participate in sport and recreation activities.
