The North Queensland Sports Foundation re-elected Ross Contarino as its Chairman for a record eighth year at its Annual General Meeting in Cairns on Friday 17 October.  Ross Contarino will be chair of this sporting organisation as it moves towards the 2004 Suncorp North Queensland Games, to be staged over Easter in the Cairns region.  He will be the first ever Chairman to have been in charge at all of the four major centres hosting the Games (Mackay in 1998, Townsville in 2000, Mount Isa in 2002, and Cairns in 2004) and is looking forward to completing the circuit.

Other members of the Board who were re-elected were Brian Stewart (Herberton) as Vice Chairman, Margaret Cochrane (Cairns) as Secretary and Charlie Law (Whitsunday) as Treasurer.

At a function, which was held later, at the Cairns Civic Centre, the 2004 Suncorp North Queensland Games were launched.  With less than six months to go to this prestigious event, the Games are shaping up to be again very successful. The Mascot for the Foundation, Fred the Frilled neck Lizard was also launched at the same time.
