Due to unforseen circumstances Suncorp Ambassador Eddie Jones is unable to attend the 2006 Suncorp North Queensland Games in Mackay.
Thanks to the speedy efforts of Suncorp, none other than John Connolly will attend. Connolly will attend the signature event of the Games, the Suncorp Rugby Sevens and then be the special guest at a luncheon to be held at Harrup Park on Monday 17 April.
John Connolly is well known to Queenslanders, having previously coached the Queensland Reds, before leaving for France and the UK for coaching stints.
A career Rugby Coach, John Connolly will fulfill a burning ambition to coach Australia when he guides the Qantas Wallabies through 13 Tests this season and then onto the Rugby World Cup in France in 2007. With more than 15 years coaching experience at the elite level, the man known to many in rugby circles simply as ‘Knuckles’, is ready for the challenge of preparing the Wallabies for Test match Rugby.
“It’s a huge honour to be asked to Coach Australia and a challenge that I’m excited about and have always been interested in. We need to work hard to improve a number of areas of our game and that challenge starts now.”
It is sure to be an interesting visit from Connolly to Mackay, and people interested in attending the luncheon should contact on Q Events on 4957 7808 to purchase tickets.
