Blue Stewart to farewell North Queensland Sports Education Tours in his back yard

The stalwart of the North Queensland Sports Education Tours, Blue Stewart, will retire from his role as Tour Leader at the end of the upcoming Tablelands Tour on Friday 3 September.

A well known figure in the Tablelands, Blue has been the driving force, literally, of the Tours for the last seven years. It would be very difficult to accurately quantify the distances travelled, but it would be more than 100,000 kilometres over the many Tours that he has managed. From Camooweal to Cooktown and all places in between he has become the well known face of the Tours.

Fittingly his last day will be at the Tolga School in the Tablelands as he reflects on the many great days that he has spent travelling throughout North Queensland to bring many Sports Development Officers to the different regions.

Blue has visited literally hundreds of schools over the last seven years and has built very positive relationships with countless Development Officers from dozens of sports. An estimated 60,000 children have participated in the Tours under his guidance.

Blue has stated that he will miss the faces of the excited children and that he has many great memories of the Tours. He will be missed by the same children and many Development Officers who he has nurtured, and the many staff at schools that he has met and worked with.

The North Queensland Sports Foundation would like to pass on its thanks to Blue Stewart for all his efforts and dedication in the development of sport in North Queensland, and wish him and his wife Christine all the very best for the future. He will be missed greatly by the North Queensland Sports Foundation.
