After a false start during COVID in 2020, the Townsville NQ Games were more than a solid hit out!

From the 4 days across April 29th to May 2nd 2022, The NQ Games saw 4,349 competitors take place in competition across 35 sports – bringing an additional 6700+ people in support with them. Initial estimates are that 11,000 individuals were involved in the spectacle, with 52% of them originating in the local Townsville region.

Preliminary economic reporting equates this level of visitation to in excess of $2.65 million dollars injected into the Queensland economy in the form of overnight visitor expenditure funds.

In response to the question “I would recommend the NQ Games to others”, 93% of participants surveyed immediately after the games answered either ‘agree’ or ‘strongly agree’.

The competitor with the most experience was 84 year old Noreen Scott from Kirwan – meanwhile we ae busy at work attempting to verify reports that there was a 2 year competitor in athletics!
