At the final Board meeting for 2024, Former Cairns Councillor and NQSF Chair Jessie Richardson was awarded with Life Membership to the North Queensland Sports Foundation.
Jessie served as Cairns’ Division 8 Councillor from 2012 until her retirement, and was Chair of the North Queensland Sports Foundation from 2014 until her retirement in 2020.
Jessie’s leadership was instrumental in steadying the Foundation through it’s Governance changes, and led through 3 NQ Games cycles. She was instrumental to developing the Move It NQ project (which by 2024 had invested $1 Million Dollars directly into free physical activities for over 62,000 North Queenslanders).
Outside of the Boardroom, Jessie made meaningful and positive impact in all of the communities she was involved in – her conduct and professional ethics dictated a consistent approach to making moral decisions for local communities.
