The Longest Running Awards Ceremony Celebrating Sporting Excellence in North Queensland
The inaugural NQ Sportstar Awards took place in 1990 and the awards are the longest running dedicated sporting awards in regional Queensland. For over 30 years our awards have played a major role in our sporting communities recognising the incredible achievements of our regional North Queensland athletes. This annual event is North Queensland’s chance to acknowledge and recognise local sporting Heroes, aspiring juniors and stellar teams – on and off the sporting field.

We are looking forward to the Sportstar Awards. It’s an exciting opportunity being the first time it’s been held in our city – this is something I have been lobbying for. It’ll bring a lot of visitors to town to help us celebrate sport. Mount Isa’s got a rich and varied sporting history, and it’ll be a great way for us to celebrate that. We have people who travel from Mount Isa each year for the awards, so it’s really good for them this year. They’re very excited and celebrating it in their own home town.
