The North Queensland Sports Foundation is delighted to announce that the judging for the 2006 North Queensland Sport Development Bursaries has been finalised.
Following on from the success in 2004 and 2005, a further twenty young sportsmen and women have been awarded $500 each towards furthering their sporting careers. To acknowledge their achievements, they will also be given a unique embroidered tracksuit top, at presentations at Council offices in the near future.
The North Queensland Sports Foundation has membership from a total of thirty two Councils throughout North Queensland. Below is the list of recipients, their sport and the Council that they represent.
The recipients of the North Queensland Sport Development Bursaries are Sarah Taylor (Athletics from Bowen), Nigel Yasso (Touch from Bowen), Michael Coppo (Football from Burdekin), Kazzia Lammon (Hockey from Burdekin), Peter Rowe (Hockey from Cairns), Adam Edwards (Gymnastics from Cairns), Matthew Brady (Water Polo from Cardwell), Lorenzo Sipi (Football from Cardwell), Lachlan Cocks (AFL from Charters Towers), Amy Lee Evans (Tennis from Herberton), Michael Scamardella (Judo from Herberton), Nabako Stow (AFL from Mackay), Rachel Fels (Pony Club from McKinlay), Amie Rossow (Multi sports from McKinlay), Ashley Pemberton (BMX from Thuringowa), Guy Phillips (Archery from Thuringowa), Nathan Mathiesen (Hockey from Townsville), Jonathon Hanran (AFL from Townsville), Karen Oni (Golf from Whitsunday) and Nicola Borellini (Football from Whitsunday).
The North Queensland Sports Foundation is confident that each of the recipients will continue to excel in their sport, and will wear his/her tracksuit top with pride.
