2020 NQ Games ANNOUNCEMENT

We regret to advise that the 2020 Townsville NQ Games has been cancelled due to the updated government advice on gatherings and social distancing. Non-essential gatherings of more than 100 people inside and more than 500 people outside have been banned. Further measures on indoor gatherings of less than 100 people are being worked through by the states and territories.

Given the nature of the NQ Games and after consultation with experts and stakeholders the difficult decision was made not to proceed.  This decision was based on advice on the AHPPC*, endorsed by Commonwealth, State and Territory governments and local authority advice.

Community health and wellbeing is our priority and minimizing the spread of COVID-19 throughout our communities is first and foremost.  We are working with the relevant organizations and authorities to minimize the impact of the cancellation.  We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.  Additional information will be provided as it comes to hand.

The situation is changing rapidly. Stay up to date with the latest information about the spread of COVID-19 and the steps being taken to slow the spread.

For information on COVID-19, please go to the federal Health Department’s website.

*The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) coordinates this and makes the key decisions.
