Congratulations to all our North Queensland Sportstar of the Year winners and runners up at this year’s 30th Annual NQ Sportstar Awards. Our event was hosted by Charters Towers Regional Council on Saturday 30th October at the Arthur Titley Centre in Charters Towers, the evening was truly a night to be remembered with the impressive line-up of VIP’s and Finalists.

The inaugural NQ Sportstar Awards took place in 1990 and is the longest running dedicated sporting awards in Queensland. For 30 years the awards have played a major role in our sporting communities recognising the incredible achievements of our regional North Queensland athletes.

Highlights of the evening included VIP Guest Speaker Steven Bradbury OAM, inspiring our NQ sporting community to ‘Never Give Up!”. The great Laurie Lawrence was present to accept his induction into the NQ Sporting Hall of Fame, recounting with the legendary Jon Sieben OAM. Grant ‘Scooter’ Patterson sharing his story to inspire and motivate the young athletes present to not settle for second best, to go out and reach their full potential!

In partnership with Charters Towers Regional Council, we would like to thank our sponsors Minjar Gold, Ravenswood Gold, McDonalds Charters Towers, Sovereign Tavern, Queensland Country Bank, Think Mobility, JMS Aquatics, Mendi Constructions and Struddys.  It was a true celebration recognising our elite North Queensland athletes and volunteers.
