Move It NQ have started 2022 with an impressive line-up of new programs and renewed contracts in Northern and Western Queensland. Move It NQ continues to partner with councils who are committed to ensuring their region promotes positive lifelong health behaviours by providing access to exercise and wellbeing programs.

This year Move It NQ have already supported several councils to continue to deliver successful activities and add exciting new sessions to their timetables. Development of Move It programs continues in a further thirteen regions confirming the dedication of councils in North Queensland to improve community health and wellbeing.  

Supported by Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) and Western Queensland Primary Health Network (WQPHN), Move It NQ continues to drive evidence-based strategies by advocating for councils to invest in empowering their community to achieve positive health related outcomes.

McKinlay Shire Council

McKinlay Shire will continue providing 1 on 1 personal training sessions and group fitness sessions in a hybrid model with both virtual and face to face options available. This year McKinlay are also extending the program welcoming Yoga instructor Jade Lord to deliver Yoga sessions weekly to the community.

Richmond Shire Council

The extremely successful Get Fit with Nic and Maks boxing sessions are continuing in 2022 following positive feedback from participants. Offering 3 sessions a week for the Richmond community, including early morning bootcamp style workouts and boxercise the Move It Program is highly valued in this small outback town.

Cairns Regional Council

Cairns Active Living Program has been extended with four new fitness sessions available for the community. The new sessions are an exciting addition to the already packed program extending the offerings to new areas including Manunda and Gordonvale and provide something different for families in Trinity beach.

Delivered by qualified trainers, new additions include Pilates, Zumba, resistance, and military style training options that are suitable for all levels of fitness and extends the timetable to eighteen physical activity sessions available for free every week.

Winton Shire Council

This year Winton are growing their program with the addition of free, swimming lessons provided by a qualified swim teacher for children aged 5 to 15. The popular after school sports program has shown the importance of sport in engaging regional communities and will continue with sports including Oztag and Netball for children as well as adults.

Cloncurry Shire Council

Recognising the importance of exercise for social interaction and mental health in small communities, Cloncurry are continuing to provide Move It group fitness sessions twice a week in collaboration with the Cloncurry PCYC. Feedback following successful programs has stimulated plans to trial different classes to grow engagement and continue motivating participants to exercise.

Mount Isa City Council

This year the highly successful Move It Mount Isa program has expanded to include Pilates and Swim Fit in their already packed timetable. Offering numerous free sessions every week, Mount Isa continue to focus on easing the financial strain on families to participate in sport or active leisure activities.

By providing opportunities for all community members, regardless of age, injury, or financial restraint, to be active, Move It Mount Isa has a variety of activities on offer including Seniors Up and Go, Boxercise, Aqua Aerobics, Swim Fit, Tai Chi, Pilates, and Yoga.
