Olympian Tori West took out the top gong on Saturday night, as the 33rd Annual NQ Sportstar Awards were held at the Mount Isa Civic Centre
West led a remarkable campaign through 2024 in order to qualify in the Heptathlon for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where she then set a PB in the first event for the competition – the 100m Hurdles.
Other high profile regional athletes that were recognised was 4-time Paralympic Medallist Grant ‘Scooter’ Patterson, burgeoning International Rodeo star Cade Ferguson, and the QLD U19 Underwater Hockey Team – who will compete for their 4th straight National Title in January of 2025.

The evening was hosted by the ABC’s Zara Margolis, with Guest Speaker and two-time NRL Premiership winner Ben Hannant inspiring attendees with stories of determination and guidance.
In 2025 the awards return to Townsville for the first time in 9 years.

The North Queensland Sportstar Awards is the longest running and most widely recognised Sportstar Awards ceremony in regional Queensland. These awards recognise excellence in athletic achievement by North Queensland’s elite athletes, along with the commitment and dedication of our volunteers and organisers.
